My daughter is only 3 and she is on the Hypertonic plus 2 other treatments per day plus a 21 minute vest session. It seems like it's so much for a 3 yr old to handle but she handles it like a CHAMP!!!!!

I feel your pain.

My 2 year old is on Pulmozyme twice a day, Pulmocort twice a day, Xopenex twice a day, Hypertonic Saline twice a day and the vest three times a day for 25 minutes. The treatments take 70 minutes combined, but it is what we have to do, we use it a play time and either read together or play games. I agree that it is very hard to fit all this in the day. I am a single parent with another child as well and I work full time, we have a tough time getting it all done, but it is so much better than the alternative. Prior to this regimine, my daughter was in the hospital on an average of every 3 weeks. Her lung function was so poor that she required full time oxygen. Since starting this she has gotten off the oxygen except for at night and has not been in the hospital for 3 months. So although it is a pain in the rear, it is worth it.

Hello Mommafirst. Thanks for your response! Yeah, Ryan's Pulmozyme takes about 8-10 minutes, so you can understand when this 30 minute session with HTS stinks!

God bless Alyssa....

I completely get it. I was close to tears tonight - it takes sooo much time to get it all done. I am glad to see that I am not alone. I only wish, as you do, that the responses here said that HPS should only take a couple of minutes.

My daughter, age 7, just started on HPS two weeks ago. We went from 30-40 minutes a day total on the nebulizer to 100-110 minutes (added an Albuterol and two HPS treatments to our existing Albuterol and Pulmozyme). I like the idea of mixing the albuterol and HPS. I will check into that.

She doesn't have the vest, yet. Lauren uses the Acapella twice a day to loosen the stuff in her lungs. I wish she wouldn't fight it so much. When she wants to she can get the Acapella done in less than 10 minutes. More often than not it takes her 30 or 40 minutes. Am I expecting too much from her? When I let her watch TV she forgets to use her device so it takes longer. When I read a story, she gets engrossed in the story and forgets to use her device. Any ideas?
