The New Lung Transplant Guy

considering that, in this situation, he has been described as a "long time smoker", it is perfectly viable. it is conceivable that he has been smoking longer than it has been accpepted that smoking causes lung cancer. and since smoking is also addictive, just quitting because of some ambiguous threat regarding a behavior that has always otherwise done you no harm. it often takes an event to convince one of a need for change. an event like, say, a double lung transplant perhaps?

Just a tiny bit of information I wish to point out... everyone keeps saying how "we all from hot to cold" or "turned on him so fast" or whatever. I did not once comment on the other thread. So count me out of that, just for the record.

And for those that did change their minds (I didn't see who said what before), that one little piece of information is important enough to allow a change of opinion.

Guy crashes into a tree and gets injured. You feel badly. You then hear that the guy who crashed into the tree and got injured was completely hammered. Plenty of people would feel less sympathy there. Just as I do when we discover the lung tx guy was a smoker.

Do not sit in judgement of others lest you be judged.
Has anyone who is so judgemental about this man getting new lungs ever smoked or tried to quit.?.
I just say, "If anyone has a second chance to live, who are we to say nay?"
I think if it was one of your own family members, you having CF and them having smoked but their lung damage is more severe and they could die, would you stand up and say, no, don't give them new lungs....give them to another CFer...just a thought.
