Amy doesn't hold herself back at all. I think it's actually funny you would say that. She's one of the last people I'd say that about.
As for me, I can't have kids anyway. I had a hysterectomy when I was 18. Mike (my fiance) and I have talked about it many times. We figure come time, we'll either go for IVF and surrogacy (I still have my ovaries), or adoption. Don't know which. And actually, as time goes by, we've also decided the children thing is less of an option than we thought. We won't have the energy or patience to deal with a child full time (and as we all now, they are a full time job). Even if you don't consider dying early a problem, a lot gets in the way in CF care, and I don't want all of our time to be taken up doing that when we have a child we should be caring for. So we'll see how it goes (we've decided to go with the flow, maybe we'll try for a kid if I have a lung tx and do well), but it looks like kids are out.
I'm with Lauren though. I don't understand why people think couples are only a family if you add kids. When Mike and I get married, we'll be our own family, just the two of us. And that's fine by me.
