Contraception

I don't have CF but I wanted to chime in on this one.

I got pregnant TWICE while on the pill. The first time they said it was a fluke, and after the second pregnancy while on the pill I said enough is enough.

I had my tubes tied after my third child. I personally would not recommend having your tubes tied.

Shortly after having it done I started having severe night sweats. I mean to the point of having to get up in the middle of the night to change the sheets. I also had severe fatigue and weight gain. I went to several doctors and no one could figure out why it was happening. They said my hormones were fine and after awhile they started saying it was all in my head. I told them to come to my house one night and see how bad my night sweats were and THEN they could tell me it was all in my head!

Also, for us old people....lol, the pill is not recommended for people over 35. You have more of a risk of stoke and blood clots.

Sounds like the IUD and the nuvaring would be the best choices.

I was on the pill for a few years then switched to the patch for a few years because it would be easier. I never had an issue w/ the pill or the patch. I stopped the patch to get pregnant and I never want to use hormonal b/c again. It kept about 5 extra lbs on me (I didn't need them) and I totally lost my sex drive. If I ever do hormonal b/c again I'll probably do the nuva ring or the mirna IUD. But I'm happy with using the Fertility Awareness method (charting my temperature, cervical fluid and cervix position). Because I know my cycle so well I know when I'm fertile and when I'm not.

Melissa,

I am SO sorry if I offended you with my statement.

I did not have an easy time growing up and sometimes I wondered if I would make it to the age of 30. When someone asks me how old I am state quite proudly that I am 34 years old.

I did not mean an offend anyone with the statement and I apologize if I did!
